It was clear at first sight that Oldsmobile Intrigue is a luxury performance car created on the Aurora basis. The debut of this model took place in January 1996 at the motor show in Detroit. It was designed to replace the classical model Cutlass Supreme. The exterior design harmoniously combines the dynamism of a silhouette and completeness of simple lines. Its full appearance was a catchy and well-balanced.
The designer Bob Luix was a responsible partner for the creation of the interior. Working on Intrigue, he was guided by the main principle to make elements of the interior «soft outwardly and by touch». The interior decoration has similar features to Cutless however it was made with greater reliability. The car offers an impressive space for rear passengers feet and over his head.
Intrigue was distinguished by a high quality unit assembly. An example of this is the suspension, which was developed in accordance with European standards. The range of power units consisted of two V-shaped engines: the volume of 3,8 l. and capacity of 197 HP. (the maximum speed of over 200 km/h) and the volume of 3,5 l. with a modified system of air intake and a modified exhaust system with a capacity of 218 HP. (the maximum speed of over 220 km/h). The engines worked in pair with a 4-speed automatic transmission of Hydra Matic.
The electronic control system of draught power provides dynamics and stability of this van on the road in addition to engines and transmissions. The tuned suspension (with stabilizers of cross stability of front and back) guarantees really sports behavior on the highway, as well as «acute» steering, clearly responds to the movement of the driver. Intrigue was offered in two versions: basic and GL. There were a power steering, changing the intensity of its work, depending on the speed, anti-lock brake system, stereo system, leather upholstery of the salon and 16-inch cast wheel disks with Goodyear Eagle LS tires in the list of standard equipment. The standard security system includes two airbags, children's seat belts, control of tires adhesion with road and day driving lights. Oldsmobile Intrigue produced in Fairfax, Kansas. But despite all advantages this van was taken out of production in 2003.
