The debut of the Hyundai Trajet was autumn 1999 in Frankfurt. The company was the company concept of minivan, which allowed Hyundai to penetrate into the new sectors of international market. This minivan represented the brand in the MPV-class. It was based on the longed platform of the Sonata IV.
The salon was offering the variety possibilities for transformations. Seven seats were installed in three rows. Each one had the individual adjustment of seat back’s inclination and the fore-and-aft adjustment.
The basic version (Hyundai Trajet GL) was equipped with the full pack of electrical devises, with the steering booster, 4 air bags and the railings on the roof. The Hyundai Trajet GLS version differed with the bigger size of the disks and the larger list of the additional equipment, including ABS, the automate system of the distribution management of the braking effort, the climate system with two air-conditioners, the cruise-control, the leathern salon, front swivel seat, the rain sensor, the ventilation with dust filter.
The Hyundai Trajet had the cross-mounted engine. The range of the power units was represented with 2 gasoline engines: 2.0 cc 133-139 hp one or 2.7 cc 167 hp V6. Equipped with the last one, the car could accelerate to 100 km / h during 11.3 sec. The maximum speed was almost 200 km / h. The engine was working in pair with the 5-speed manual transmission in basic pack, the 6-cylinder one - only with automate.
In 2001 the new 110 hp turbodiesel appeared.
At the beginning of 2004, the Hyundai Trajet got the modern transparent lighting, the new radiator grille and the body colored handles. The basic pack got the 3-point belt for the security of the middle passenger, the extra salon lighting and on-board computer. There were some changings in the engine’s range. It was added a 2 L 140 hp CVVT engine, which could accelerate to 183 km / h.
The Hyundai can had turned out to be roomy, attractive and practical, combining the comfort of the passenger car and the versatility of the minivan.
