The debut of the Ford Freestyle was in 2005. The model combined the characteristics of the off-road vehicle and the wagon: the long hood, high waistline, aggressive design of the radiator grille, 2-level roof, big rear-view mirrors and handles.
The salon had three seat rows. The Ford Freestyle was offered in two variants: six-or seven-seater car.
The second seat row might be presented with the three-seater sofa with a 60:40 folded back or 2 separate seats. The car had a high roof. The salon had a lot of sections for staff. The standard trimming was made of carbon fiber and more expensive variant was leathern. The central console is wooden.
First Ford Freestyle was offered in three variants: SE, SEL and Limited. The pack of SE included the conditioner, CD-player, the separate seats of the second row (in such configuration the salon was 6-seater), the electric adjusted driver’s seat and ABS. The SEL’s equipment list included the built-in CD-changer, automate lights, the heated mirrors, 17-inch disks and on-board computer. The Limited version had 18-disk wheel, leathern front and second row seats, the automate two-zone climate-control, the electrical adjusted front passenger’s seat, and the memory for the driver’s one, the possibility to fold the 3 row in the ratio 5 to 5.
Optionally, the customers were offered the side air bags for the first row and curtain air bags for all seat rows. Also you could offer the automatically adjusted pedals, rear parking sensors, DVD, the panoramic roof, satellite radio Sirius and the navigation system. The basic variant was FWD, with additional payment you could have the electronically pluggable AWD (the Intelligent 4WD system).
The car was equipped with the powerful 3.0 L 6-cylinder Duratec engine, with the capacity of 203 hp and the maximum torque was 281 Nm. It worked together with CVT. The suspension is fully independent. The Ford Freestyle was very comfortable in driving and the security of the car was good, too.
In 2008, the model was redesigned, so the name of the car was changed to the Taurus X.
