Review:
The production of the famous commercial model Mitsubishi Delica (L300 model outside the Japanese market) began in 1968. The pickup had the bearing capacity of 600 kg and could speed up to 115 km / h.
The year later, the cargo and passenger wagon appeared. The passenger version was called Star Wagon and could easily accommodate 9 passengers.

By 1979, the popularity of the car had grown, so the specialists had to make a lot of changes to satisfy the requirements of the customers.
In 1982 the first 4WD wagon was created in Japan. The Mitsubishi L300 model was considered to be secure, long lived and had the outstanding performance.
In 1986 the car was totally reworked. The exterior became more aerodynamic and got the elegant lines, so in combination with the durable body and built it security systems, the car was in demand on the Japanese market.
The Delica Space Gear was added to the model line in 1994. It was the fourth generation of Delica. Outside the Japanese market it was sold under the name of L400. By the way, the previous generation was in production till 1998 but in smaller series.

The Delica Space Gear was offered in different variants of the cabin and the salon. The car represented the minivan (as rule, the 4WD). The car had the same suspension and the engine line as the Pajero Sport. The car was also reworked in 1998, and in 2004. The last modernization included the change of the diesel engine by the gasoline power unit. The exterior was improved, too. The car was equipped by the leathern trimming, the fog lights were offered optionally. The bearing capacity was 350-800 kg depending on the passenger capacity (2-6 people). It had a frame construction of the body, the classical layout, the spring front suspension and the independent sprung rear one. The engine line consisted 2 diesels: 2.2 L R4 8V with the capacity of 79 hp and 2.5 L R4 OHV with the capacity of 100 hp and also 1 gasoline power unit: 1.8 L R4 8V with the capacity of 90 hp.
During the Auto Show was presented the D5 4WD minivan concept in Tokyo in 2005, which changed the out-of-date Delica /Space Gear.
