The most popular in our time the third series of BMW launched its "lineage" in 1975 with the release of the BMW 318. Premiere of BMW 318 was held at the Olympic Stadium in Munich.
Range of modifications of BMW 3 Series (E 36), belonging to the D-class, consists of 4-door sedan, two-door coupe and convertible, 3-door hatchback Compact and 5-door station wagon Touring. Externally the car looks vigorously and aggressively. Small overhangs, short feed and small doors make the car visually smaller than it really is.

The engine range of BMW 318 includes 9 petrol units: four 4-cylinder ranging from very weak 1.6-liter (100 hp) to the 16-valve 1.8-liter (140 hp) and five 6 -cylinder "24-valve" from the 2.0-liter engine (150 hp) to sports M3 3.2-liter (321 hp). In versions with turbodiesel engines we have a choice of three options: one four-cylinder of 1.8 liter (90 hp) and two 6-cylinder engines of 2.5 liter (115 hp) and 2.5 liters (143 hp), equipped with system of intermediate air cooling of turbocharging - Intercooler. The average service life of engines before replacement of piston rings is not less than 300 thousand kilometers.
BMW 318 was equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission (M3 - a 6-speed), and 4 - or 5-speed automatic.
Braking system with ABS, installed as standard, ensures effective braking even on high speeds. Low-power versions (up to 115 hp) are equipped with ventilated front disc brakes and rear drum, and all the rest are equipped with the disk ones.
