The Celerio is the car manufactured by Suzuki's subsidiary in India Maruti Suzuki.
The design, also developed in India, is a European-inspired concept. It produces the impression as if such cars as the Citroen C1, the Kia Picanto and the Hyundai i10 were combined in one vehicle.
The 997cc three-cylinder engine is in compliance with Euro-5. Made of aluminum K10B, the engine is thought to be lightweight. As the manufacturer assures it is capable of going 19.59 km per liter. At 6200rpm power output is estimated as much as 67ps. Originally it was supposed to be a city car, so you can’t expect the engine to sprint it away. Though it has enough power for the use it was engineered. The geared automatic transmission makes it possible to operate with four speeds. The gears are changed practically without shift shocks.
Suspension guarantees a good car control as it consists of MacPherson struts in the front and a rigid suspension with three links in the rear. The journey in the vehicle is comfortable enough as road bumps and ruts are absorbed well enough. It may seem unbelievable, however, because the car has a short wheelbase. Thanks to a decent brake system the car is provided with good stopping power.
The Celerio is small, but compact. It gives enough room for four passengers of average-size. 110 liters of cargo can be fitted into the boot, but there is a possibility to push it to 345 liters if you fold the rear seats. Power amenities include power front windows, electric power steering, doorlocks and keyless entry. However, passenger windows are not controlled by the driver. Entertainment in the car is ensured by a CD player with six speakers.
Certainly, the Celerio is supplied with up-to-date safety equipment including dual front airbags, brake assist and anti-lock brakes, the characteristic feature of which is electronic brake force distribution. Side impact beams provide passive safety. Child seat anchors serve the same purpose.
The car is smart and environment-friendly. It may especially appeal to those people who seek for economy.
