The Eagle Talon is a compact sport coupe AMC Eagle Company. It has been produced since 1990 till 1998. The model was manufactured in the USA. It was the child of the cooperation of Eagle and Mitsubishi. The Eagle Talon had much in common with Mitsubishi Eclipse, even it was sold under this name in some countries. The both models had many unified units.
The first generation of the Eagle Talon was presented in 1989 as the 1990-year model. It was produced till 1994. The 1990 year model of the Eagle Talon had got the dynamic exterior with the moved forward headlights. It was the particularity of the general design of the model. Three years later was presented the new sport sedan of the company - Eagle Vision.
The Eagle Talon of the first generation was in top-10 list of the best cars according to the magazine "Car and Driver". The FWD coupe was in demand on the North American market due to its quite low price and attractive appearance. The steering management of the Eagle Talon was of rack-and-gear type with the hydraulic booster. The brake system was represented with ventilated brake disks.
The Eagle Talon fastback was difficult to confuse with the other car. Its particularity is a little hump on the left side of the hood, there was installed the engine. The first generation had got the modern Mitsubishi engines together with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
Eagle presented the second generation of the Eagle Talon in 1995, the technical characteristics of the sport car were reworked. The car was equipped with 2 L 4-cylider (AT TSi, AT TSi 4WD, MT ESi) engines, which could give up the capacity of 213 horsepower. The exterior changed, too. Due to this modernization the new one was less similar to Eclipse.
Due to the restyling of the second generation, the Eagle Talon looked more aggressive. The new shape of bumpers, the bigger air-intake helped in this. The traditional crescent-shaped spoiler was changed with the higher one.
The last Eagle Talon rolled off the manufacture line on February 10, 1998.
