The production of Mercedes-Benz CLS was launched in the year 2004 so as to compete in executive cars’ class of E-type. The model came out as sedan with some coupe-traits and great practicality of an executive car. The second generation of this model was produced after the year 2010. The most recent versions have probably the same or almost the same power plants and equipment.
The vehicle is equipped with a 4.7-liter twin-turbo, which delivers 402 horsepower in the base version, while more powerful cars boast a bit different engines. So CLS 63 comes with a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 which is capable of 518 horsepower. Until the year 2011 the same 5-liter power source was able of 382 horsepower. The amount of engineering work, done on the models of CLS-class cars is stunning: almost every version of the car has different modifications of the motor. This allows a certain amount of variety within the model row. But previous and current representatives of CLS-class have very nice control options, which help to handle the vehicle well on twisty roads.
The materials used for the body-build are rather durable, which was also typical for previous models within the model row, too. The shape of the car became more curvaceous, which adds more dynamic characteristics to the car. All models boast heated mirrors, beam headlights, gauge responsible for the temperature outside the cabin and power sunroof. This package is standard on all current models of Mercedes-Benz CLS-class of cars.
The cabin has a low ceiling, which is bad when the seats’ occupants are of tall height. The availability of rear seats is a bit difficult, too. This happens because the roof has a curvy shape. The doors open tightly, which also adds some trouble for rear seats. The room for foot is not very generous, but it can fit those of average height. One of the most pleasant things of such a tight cabin is the capacity of cargo department: it is about 453 liters, enough for this coupe-looking sedan. The standard features of the specification are climate control and cruise control. Other equipment includes dual airbags, parking sensors and remote keyless entry to the vehicle.
Those, willing to possess a luxury sedan can choose a representative of CLS-class. The cars have a very desirable exterior lines and reliable electronics inside. The performance is a very strong feature of the vehicle. But the limited space for rear seats occupants leaves some doubts, though sometimes irrelevant for a real car-worshipper.
