From the beginning of this year some information about BMW X5 crossover started appearing on the Internet. Even few pictures were recently published on the web and now every detail of the model was revealed. The sales of this vehicle will start in November of 2013, which is pretty soon.
As for the exterior, despite the significantly big amount of changes implied in new model, BMW X5 remained recognizable. The front optics, bumpers and radiator grille were modified and now look similar to corporate standard of the third series. Apart from that, new slots in modified bumper and front arches will help redirect air flow and lower aerodynamic turbulence around wheels.
At first, this vehicle will be offered in three different engine modifications. Each buyer will be able to choose between petrol BMW X5 xDrive50i version equipped with 4.4 liter engine with 450 hp of capacity and two diesel engines – the xDrive30d with 258 hp and 560 N • m of torque and M50d with 381 hp and 740 N • m. Each engine option is supplemented with an eight-speed automatic transmission and there’s no alternative to that.
Crossover version will also be available with three packages of improvements: Design Pure Experience, Design Pure Excellence and M-package. With all this said, external changes are more likely evolutional and don’t have any revolutionary elements. The interior of new generation BMW X5 was changed even less that its exterior.
Four suspension types will be more that enough for a crossover model. The buyer can choose between Comfort option ( with adaptive amortizations), Dynamic option ( with active anti-roll system), Professional option ( that combines the advantages of two previous options) and Adaptive M – the sport option.
American Market will be able to have a seven-seated version. The third seat row will consist of two chairs designed for passengers no higher that 150 cm. Such passengers may be kids who love traveling in the back of the car. The price range for this model is still unknown but it sure wasn’t increased significantly.
