U.S. Justice Department has put an end to the Daimler bribery case

After three years of probation of German Company it was recognized as changed and now has an internal corporate program against corruption.

U.S. Justice Department has completed the agreement that deferred prosecution of German Daimler Concern because of its corrupt deals. We shall recall that in 2010 the U.S. Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Daimler in U.S. federal court. The automaker was accused of paying bribes in exchange for contracts that were paid to official workers in 22 countries between 1998 and 2008. The total amount of the bribes reached $ 51 million.

In same 2008 Washington DC Mercedes-Benz Russia and its subdivisions in Germany and China have pleaded guilty in violating U.S. anti-corruption laws. As a result, Mercedes-Benz Russia has confessed that it had illegally offered money to Russian federal and local government officials to secure contracts for the supply of its vehicles. Some subdivisions of Russian Interior Ministry, Ministry of Defence, Moscow Government, Special Purpose Garage and other authorities were mixed in this case.

U.S. Federal Court has agreed to close the criminal case against Daimler after the Company has paid $ 185 million fees. Daimler also agreed to let independent inspectors conduct a three-year monitoring of their activities. The supervisory period has been extended in the past year, but was now completed by the U.S. Justice Department along with an agreement to defer the prosecution.

According to Wall Street Journal, observers have concluded that Daimler now has an effective anti-corruption program. This means the Company will finally be left alone and will be able to perform its projects. Since every respected auto brand is constantly presenting a new concept or anniversary model, it’s about time Daimler offered some new vehicles to the international buyers. Otherwise no bribes would help the Company increase the sales and profits, as there would be nothing to offer to potential buyers.
