Newest Infinity model, G37 one, was presented alongside Q50 of 2014 model year. Q50 could be easily named the most anticipated model of 2014, at least we, as huge Infinity fans, say so. This car is developed using a completely new strategy and will replaced the famous G37 sedan, at least eventually, as this one will still be produced as well, until 2013 year ends.
Kyle Bazemore, one of Infinity representatives, has stated to Autoblog web-site that the decision to prolong G37’s life is still one to be made. Q50 may have started as its replacement, but the model is doing so well it would be stupid to simply stop its production. Q50 will have a starting price of $37,605, which was already confirmed by company’s official representatives. The interesting part is that G37, which Q50 came to replace, is more expensive and has a price starting from $38,255. That’s why we, as huge Infinity fans, as well as our readers, expect that prices will drop in the nearest future.
Q50 has a V6 engine and a Hybrid modification as well (with turbo V4 supplemented with a diesel engine). As BMW is also remodeling its 320i series, Infinity may lose a niche in the market by cancelling G37 before Q50 has a first recognition among buyers. So lower segment with its sales may be left without Infinity, which is something Company managers will never do.
With so much pressure on Infinity brand managers’ shoulders, the decision of continuing G37’s production or closing it forever may determine company’s nearest future. So that may be the first reason it is still not made. Other reason may be the fact that G37 is loved by thousands of hundreds of people who would still buy rather it than a less expensive Q50. Even more confusion is added to the situation by the new naming system Infinity presented not that long ago. That way, G37 will be rebranded as Q60 coupe of 2014 model year, which adds more questions to the general issue. Well, all we could do for now is wait what the managers will decide and get used to their decision.
