American Newport Convertible Engineering company has equipped the latest Range Rover with automatically retractable awning, which replaces the conventional metal roof form the off-road vehicle.
Newport Convertible Engineering Company was founded in 1983 and has already managed to work with such auto brands as Mazda, Nissan, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ferrari, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Lexus, Pontiac, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo. While Land Rover is trying to decide whether to launch cross-coupe Range Rover Evoque into production, American coachbuilder company Newport Convertible Engineering is already collecting orders for an open Range Rover of latest generation it had prepared! The engineers, who, by the way, \"demolished\" the roof from the previous generation as well, argue that this is world\'s first new Range Rover with a removable top.
Its really difficult to name this remodeled Rover a beauty, in its original state as well as with remodeled roof. NCE Range Rover looks really questionable, however, it already managed to get some pre orders.
The best thing about this version is that it doesn’t need any effort to transform from an ordinary car to a convertible. The tent is equipped with electric drive that does all the work for you. According to the creators, the roof also protects interior of the car from bad weather and road noise. There’s not a word about the safety though, and the car seems to be saved not only from its metal roof but also from C-and D-pillars that supported the general construction. While front passengers have nothing to worry about in case of an accident, as they are protected by a cross-beam amplifier connecting with B-pillar, rear passengers are less protected if not to say in danger of being killed. But wouldn’t you sacrifice such thing as safety for the ability to feel the wind in your hair, especially in summer during a road trip with your friends? We thought so. The trunk capacity after such modification is also unknown.
