The Peugeot 201 - the compact car, being issued the Peugeot company from 1929 to 1937.
The Peugeot 201 gathered on factory in Sosho, Yura, and now is in the same place in the museum Peugeot. Though Peugeot releases the cars since 1890, Peugeot 201 was the first mass model of the company.
The Peugeot 201 was presented for the first time in 1929 on the Parisian motor show, at once after the beginning of exchange crash of 1929. Many European producers did not survive after the shock wave proceeding from New York, but model 201 saved company situation, having allowed the Peugeot company to endure an economic crisis, and even fixed position of the company in the world market.

Originally it was equipped 1,1-liter l4, then the turn of 1307 cm came, the 1,5-liter unit became the terminating engine.
Model 201C appeared in 1931, it was the first car which had an independent forward suspension bracket, such concept was accepted quickly by competitors. Nevertheless, the prime bridge was still accessible, the new suspension bracket improved coupling with the road and reduced vibrations on a steering column.
201C was one of the first models of the company which has received an emblem with the head of a lion in an upper of a front grille.
1931 201 T: utilitarian model. Back disks 14 × 45
1931 201 of C: more comfortable version with expanded wheel base and a body. For 1932 19 978 pieces were made.
1931 201 X: models with an engine displacement of 994 cm3 (60 × 88), the countershaft in a head is developed by Bugatti, twenty copies are made. The maximal speed reached 135 km/h.
1931 201 E: more potent and mild version. Wheel instead of a trunk lid.

1936 201 of M: cut-down version 301. The SER5 engine of 1465 cm, 35 h.p. at 4000 rpm.
