New Ford Mustang will lose some noticeable amount of weight. Mustang of 2015 model year was recently spotted by paparazzi during its first road tests. Coupe will reveal its new design in January of 2014 at Detroit Motor Show or in New-York in next April.
Current Ford Mustang coupe of the fifth generation is being produced since 2005. Restyling and upgrades in the line of engines helped the model to stay on the market for a considerable long period, but it is clear that the next generation is about time to be withdrawn into the light of day and everyone’s eyes to see. The first prototype of new model, created from current pony-car, was seen back in 2012. Now, the pictures of completely new car wearing lots of camouflage appeared on the Internet, along with some insider’s information about the vehicle.
The current Mustang is equipped with a \"six\" and \"eight\" engines with the overall capacity varying from 309 to 671 hp (for versions Shelby GT500), and that doesn’t include the more productive small-scale versions equipped with higher option packages.
The new generation will significantly expand the range of engines. And if the starting price for a basic \"horse\" will remain at about the same level as it is today, the upper limit will be raised much higher.
\"The Sixth» Ford Mustang will become about 180 pounds lighter than the current vehicle. The weight savings will be achieved both through greater utilization of lightweight materials and by reducing the size of the car. In particular, shorter front and rear overhangs will cut the stand with a total length of about 380 millimeters. The width will also be reduced by more than few inches. These measures, together with a revision of the engine range, should make the novelty more economical than its predecessor and current vehicles presented by competitors. Mustang of the sixth generation is expected to stay on the line for 8-10 years. Company’s managers obviously need to start thinking about how will they manage to do this right now.
