The Star 200 was the average load truck that was produced by Poland Company FSC-Star in the period from 1976 to 1994. It could be used to transport different types of cargo. The vehicle might have the tarpaulin roof, be roofless, could be used as a chassis to arrange different sorts of equipment. Due to the low price and the long terms of usage, this one was widely used as the municipal transport and for military services.
The suspensor of the model was Star 28/29. The first prototypes of the vehicle were built in 1964-1965 and for the first time they were shown to the public in 1966.
The engine range of Star 200 was presented with 6-cylinder in line Star 359 and S-400 diesel power units. Later, it was changed with 6-cylinder in line Star S359 and S359M, this air diesel with the system of direct injection was the result of collaboration with the Austrian AVL. The worked in pair 5-speed manual transmission. They provided the power output of 125-150 horsepower. The fuel trunk had the volume of 150 L.
The Star 200 was changed in 1994 by the Star 1142.
The standard cabin had a good glassing, the control of the road for the driver was easy due to the panoramic windscreen, without the central bearer. The salon was equipped with the heating system and the ventilation system. The platform of the vehicle had the wooden flooring and could transport the cargo with the weight of 6000 kg. The vehicle could also tow the trailer with the weight of 8500 kg.
Since 1986 had started the production of the new Star 1142, thou Star 200 remained in production for 8 more years.
It was popular due to the low fuel consumption, good dynamics, good road adherence towing the trailer with the cargo, the easiness of heightening (cranes, fire fighting vehicle and usage in forestry).
