Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Mercedes-Benz E Class is manufactured by Mercedes-Benz and it is a series of executive cars with different body and engine designs. The E denotes Einspritzmotor meaning the German translation for fuel injection engine. This was a new feature inducted in mass production vehicles when the E-class was introduced. The E was suffixed to denote the classification of the engine, i.e. 230E. Fuel injection was prevalent in all Mercedes models, hence it was not notified as a special feature. The size and durability of the E-class made it a suitable candidate for taxi service in European countries. The W123 and W124 models are used as interstate taxis in Malaysia and Singapore uses the W211 as taxis. Mercedes-Benz also provides special purpose vehicles such police and ambulance service transportation.

Mercedes Benz E-class made an entry into the US in the 1994 model year after the W124 was face-lifted. All the Mercedes-Benz models changed to the new naming convention that added the E as a suffix for an example the E320 in place of 300E. From 1992 sedans and saloons were named as 400E and 500E which were renamed as E420 and E500 since 1993. In the same vein the 3-litre models were also rebadged as E320 with a new 3.2 litre engine in place.
