Will Dodge put a restriction to limit Challenger SRT Hellcat to just 1,200 units?
Will Dodge put a restriction to limit Challenger SRT Hellcat to just 1,200 units?

The Challenger SRT Hellcat seems to be a winner on paper with a 700hp at its disposal for a price tag of a mere $60k. But one has to act with alarm if they want to lay their hands on this new muscle car. This may be due to restrictions coming from Dodge.

News filtering from Dodge reveals that production of the Hellcat might be limited to just 1,200 units in its first year at least. This number is just 25 per cent of the challengers that Dodge move each month and would also mean that the ratio of Hellcats that the US dealers would receive is just one for two dealerships. This would lead to disagreement over the ownership Hellcats among dealers as well as customers.

When asked to comment on this Dan Reid, the SRT spokesperson told Autoblog that there is no such move to restrict Challenger Hellcat production. The same sentiment was earlier expressed by Tim Kuniskis the Dodge CEO who in an interview with Edmunds told that they don’t know the market demand for the Hellcats and it would mean that production of Hellcat would be or not restricted. The decision is not taken yet so no announcement has been made so far in this matter he further quipped.
