Volvo confirms the entry of 3-Cylinder Engine Family In Its Lineup

Among the many things that Sweden has offered to the world which includes ABBA, also offered blissful Volvo cars and its engines. Not much time has gone by that Volvo was offering six-pot and five-pot and even engines with less cylinders. And the four-cylinder versions of engines have already been downloaded there is the latest new coming from Autocar of UK that the Swedes are now plotting to come up with a 3-cylinder mill.

Rollout of the four-cylinder Drive-E engine is scheduled for a 2016 completion. The freshly debuted XC90 crossover is the first one to adhere to the plan.  With the global demand for strict emission norms and economy rules Volvo expects the 3-cylinder to keep ahead with the moving targets. The three-pots are likely to be deployed in vehicles as big as the S60, V60 and, XC60 and the 1.5 L engines are also being developed with a eye on the hybrid use.

Considering the facts that the US users are gas-electric engine savvy and also the country being the Volvo’s largest market for the brand it is a smart plan from the Sweden based automaker. US drivers still prefer the Volvo over the diesel versions of the German counterpart the Volkswagen.
