Isuzu MU-7 is the full-size SUV for Thailand and Southeast Asian countries, on some markets it is sold under the name Alterra. It is based on the D-MAX platform and has a framed body structure, a longitudinal-engine, rear-wheel drive or automatically connected all-wheel drive. The production started in July 2003, the model was reworked in summer 2006.
The dimensions are 4995x1770x1890 mm and the wheelbase is 3050 mm.
The power unit for 4x4 version is 4JJ1-TCX turbodiesel 3.0-liter R4 16V injected CR, with the variable turbine geometry that provides the power output of 163 horsepower and the maximum torque of 333 or 360 Nm. For 4x2 versions is available 4JJ1-TC engine of the same volume that can provide the power capacity of 146 horsepower and the top torque of 294 Nm.
As for equipment, Isuzu MU-7 has the front PB, ABS, central locking with remote control, power steering, air conditioning system, audio system with CD. Optionally, it may be equipped with the electric sunroof, CD changer, leathern trimming of interior.
The renewed SUV Isuzu MU-7 has been noticed during the tests on the roads of India, and its pre serial prototype will be shown in the next year. The serial production of the renewed SUV Isuzu MU-7 will not last more than 2 years. According to the Australian edition of The Motor Report, the current generation of the SUV Isuzu MU-7, that has not even gotten off the assembly line, is outdated and in 2015 will be replaced by the new generation of Isuzu MU -7.
The platform is borrowed from Chevrolet TrailBlazer.
It has a luxury interior and the improved maneuverability.
Under the hood of this large SUV is a 3-liter turbo diesel engine with 161 horsepower and the maximum torque of 360 Nm. The customer will have a choice of five-speed manual gearbox or automatic transmission.
The exact date of the debut of new version of Isuzu MU-7 is not defined, but it is known that Isuzu plans to show a pre-production prototype in 2013. The car will be assembled at the company\'s plant in Thailand, and its main market will be the South-East Asia.
