The year 2016 has seen the Ford Mustang riding into the sun with a few appearance packages. The California Special version of the Mustang has already been shown by Ford, but fans were not shown the new Black Accent Mustang yet, so we will do the honors.
The spy photographer caught a yellow GT coupe with the Black Accent package on, and you can see that it can turn the Mustang into a real dark galloper. However, this package is not for every Mustang, only available to the GT coupes and the convertibles exclusively.
You can watch the pictures posted on the website and find that it has blacked out grille, black badge, and the fender emblem demarking 5.0. A black panel is bridging the taillights, then a black rear spoiler and finally - yes, the black wheels. The example you see the photos also has black painted top, which is also a brand new option with the EcoBoost coupes and GT for 2016.
As reported earlier the Ford Mustang carries a retro-oriented styling, and the two new appearance packages turns up the nostalgia quotient further up for 2016, by adding the hood vent turn signals of the 1967 Mustang. The signals should be recalled by Mustang fans as they appeared neatly tucked under the hood, with the 1967-68 second generation pony car.
Obviously the Mustang fans were hollering course for recalled this neat attention grabber and Ford obliged with glee. All examples of the 2016 Mustang GT will be wearing this LED turn-signal repeaters stuck under the rim of the hood vents. Do these signals have any particular functions? Probably not, but the throw back addition is the kind of appreciative nod that Ford wants to give it to the Mustang fans. The year 2016 also witness the return of the 1960 Mustang packages, the California Special and Pony packages of the heyday.
