For the first time Ford Excursion has appeared in the market in 1999 as a car of 2000 model year. The car was shown at the exhibition in Texas, and after this it was immediately launched into serial production. Excursion is built on the chassis of the truck Ford F 250.
The internal content of saloon is impressive. There are front seats with a wide range of adjustments, climate control and radio with CD-changer for 6 discs.
We should note that despite the enormous torque of the engine and all-wheel drive with low transfer, Excursion is not made for serious off-road. Very long wheelbase (3480 mm) and weight can be a real obstacle to the SUV.
There is a variety of different containers for luggage: large door pockets, a box between the front seats and cup holders. Passengers of the second (middle) row can feel comfortable even if there are three people there. By the way, two separate front seats can be changed with solid sofa, and the car can become a nine-seat vehicle.
The back door consists of three parts. To get into the trunk, you must first fold up the glass, and then alternately opened right and left wings.
The car is equipped with a 10-cylinder V-engine of Triton family with volume of 6.8 liters and capacity of 310 hp. There is an alternative of 255-hp V8 engine of 5.4 liters or 250-horsepower 7.3 liter turbo diesel V8. Excursion differs with large fuel consumption, which is more than 28 liters per 100 km.
Vehicle weights 3200 kg. Overall dimensions are 5.75 in length and more than two meters in height and width. Fuel tank capacity is 167 liters. Excursion\'s size is its main advantage. There is spacious interior, roomy trunk, a high level of equipment and strong engine. If you have, for example, your own boat, the Excursion is perfect for the role of towing vehicle.
Because of low consumer demand, the production of this model was discontinued in 2003. Ford says that instead of the biggest SUV in the world it will offer a long version of the new generation of Expedition.
