Peugeot motorsport division has recently announced that 208 hatchback will be sent to conquer the legendary Pikes Peak this year. And the legendary Sebastian Loeb will be driving the car to the height. Needless to say that such great amount of legends deserves a special car. That’s why French manufacturers started working on a special prototype that would be perfect for this mission. And few days ago the first pictures of this prototype were shown to the world.
The technical characteristics of the Pikes Peak Peugeot 208 T16 were also revealed to the world along with the first pictures. The prototype is equipped with 3.2 liter bi-turbo petrol V6 engine with unbelievable capacity of 875 hp. This engine is moved with the six-speed transmission that works on all four wheels. The car’s weight is only 875 kg, this means that each kilo has a horse power behind it. Dynamic characteristics match the visual and technical ones. Peugeot 208 T16 needs only 1.8 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/hour. The 200 km/hour speed takes 4.8 seconds and the maximum speed, the 240 km/hour is gained in 7 seconds.
Another great feature of this car is an aggressive aerodynamic body kit with rear wing similar to the one installed on the 908 sport model. The vehicle is based on the tubular steel frame with a hinged carbon fiber body panels.
As you can already imagine, the suspension of the 208 is also to die for. The wheels have 18-inch tires made from magnesium and designed by Michelin specifically for this car. The greatest part of the team, however, is Sebastian Loeb who will be driving this monster on June 30.
He will compete in the fastest Unlimited class. The sponsors of the car, as we can see from the spoilers, are the Red Bull, Michelin and Total Companies. There’s just two months left until Peugeot 208 T16 and Sebastian Loeb can prove themselves to the world. And already today it is clear that this vehicle will be a pleasure to look at during the race as it is a pleasure to look at in the pictures.
