The fact that BMW was planning to restyle each model in its new fifth series was revealed after the pictures of an updated BMW M5 sedan appeared on the Internet, which was a long time ago. And now German manufacturers revealed all information about the changes that would occur in the next series. The innovative ideas and restyling touched the entire fifth generation of cars.
As for the external differences from the previous versions, there are too few to be spotted right away. This way the fifth generation of SUV’s and sedans got a slightly modified front and rear bumpers as well as slightly different air intakes. Apart from that each model of the fifth series got some more clearly defined lights, extended color palette and additional line of interior trim option.
Every model is equipped with xenon front lights by default, but LED lights are available in optional packages. The trunk of Gran Turismo hatchback became bigger by 60 liters and now has 500 liters of space to offer. The main interior option is spotted right away; it’s the new steering wheel with a thinner rim.
The technical modifications and changes are significantly bigger. For example, the sedan and SUV now have a 143 hp powered diesel engine as an option. The 518d version this way becomes a starting one for this model. As for the other engine options, according to engineers, the entire line became more economical and eco-friendly but remained as powerful as it was before.
Electric versions of the fifth series sedan, the M5 model, was leaved without any major changes. But it still has a pleasant surprise. As German manufacturers have promised, the restyled model has an optional Competition Package available, which includes some interesting modifications. When buying this package you receive additional 15 hp of power added to the standard 560 hp. The entire line of restyled fifth generation is already available for ordering. The speed dynamics of the BMW M5 with Competition Package is, unfortunately, unknown.
